Weekend in Review

I feel like a talk a lot about our Angel Food Ministry but it has been a big deal to us. Saturday was distribution day for all of the orders that came in over the month.  We had over 850 boxes of groceries to distribute through our facilities.  We prepared, trained, and prayed and yet we were still hit with the unexpected.  Our tractor trailer load of food was scheduled to arrive at our church at 7:30am and the people were scheduled to arrive at 9:00am to pick up their food but the truck did not show up until 10:30 and it takes two hours to unload the truck.  Needless to say we were scrambling to handle the unexpected.  One thing I learned was that under pressure the real person or the real me shows up.  I personally had to remind myself several times to not allow my aggravation at the delivery system to ruin my attitude.  What I saw was that the people who were serving that day were an amazing group of compassionate, patient and servant-minded volunteers.  I also saw an amazing group of people who were willing to wait on the food because there is such a great need.  I received this email from someone who came to pick up the food.  I thought you would enjoy the positive feedback.  Thank you again to the volunteers that were able to come and serve.

"I just wanted to take time to thank you for your ministry of food through Angel Food Ministries.  This was our first time utilizing Angel Food Ministries and rest assured it will not be the last.  I know today (Saturday) was most trying for those involved, but I have never seen a group more patient, kind, apologetic and greatly concerned about circumstances you all had no control over.  It shows there is a true Christian fellowship and ministry at your church.  The distribution seemed well organized and everyone was like worker bees doing their assigned task.  What a ministry!!!  Thanks again for your Christian Service."

People waiting patiently in line!!!
More people waiting patientlyAnd even more people waiting patiently!!!
